The Eddie Aikau Memorial Championship has been given the green light, the organisers said. If it goes ahead, it would be the tenth time the tournament has been held in more than 40 years.
This is the second green light given this season, one was given for the 11th but then reversed because an update to the wind forecast showed a less positive wind direction and strength.
Chilean Ramón Navarro, who didn't make it in time for that swell because his flight was cancelled, is already on the islands, ready for the third Eddie of his career. In one of them he made it to the top 5 and surfed the best wave of the championship.
