The Nazaré Challenge was given the green light

Natxo González is in the third heat of the day. The specialists say that it will be a Friday with perfect and giant conditions.


The WSL has given the green light to hold the Nazaré Challenge this Friday in light of the forecast for a large swell and a day of perfect wind conditions for the tournament.

In addition, the competition series were distributed, the Spaniard Natxo González is in the third of the day against Kai Lenny, Jamie Mitchell, Jojo Roper, Pedro Calado and Hugo Vau.

“Conditions have been closely monitored and everything continues to look favorable for Friday. We expect epic waves for surfers to paddle out in, in the 25- to 35-foot range. Swell and wind will be coordinated with what is expected to be a clean day to kick off the big wave season,” said tour commissioner Mike Parsons.

Surfline, the official forecaster for the world tour, said wind conditions were “as good as they can get.” Surfers like Kai Lenny and Jamie Mitchell said they were mentally prepared to take a few hits and try to survive.
