The green light was given for tournaments in Jaws, Punta Galea and the Canary Islands

The Pacific and North Atlantic will light up

The WSL and the organisers of the Punta Galea Challenge and the Quemao Class have given the green light for their respective events to take place. If all goes according to plan, the world big wave championship will take place on Thursday 12th at Jaws, while the Punta Galea Challenge and the Lanzarote event are looking more towards 15th or 16th December.

“It is rare to see three systems approaching, bringing spectacular waves to the Basque coast for several days. The first, which we expect between tomorrow and the day after, will be accompanied by a westerly wind, so it is ruled out. The second, on the other hand, seems promising and is expected for this Thursday. It will bring huge waves of more than 6 metres in height, an ideal sea direction and light southerly winds. We will once again be very attentive to these winds, as if they increase, it would make holding the event difficult,” explained the organisers of the event in Punta Galea.

The Jaws Challenge is the only big wave paddle event that will take place this season, the Punta Galea Challenge is one of the many events of the modality that was part of the world big wave tour but then stopped being so and the Quemao Class is the Canary Islands Pipe Masters.

The WSL must give confirmation today as notice must be given 48 hours prior to the event.

The Canarian Pipe Masters: El Quemao Class.
