Surfing Australia, the governing body for surfing in the country, has announced the athletes who will be part of its team for the ISA World Longboard Championships taking place from April 19-25 in El Sunzal, El Salvador.

Surfing Australia’s High Performance Director Kate Wilcomes said of the selected team: “We are excited to announce our Irukandji Longboard Team for the 2024 ISA World Longboard Championships. We have a strong team this year, featuring the majority of experienced ISA surfers and we can’t wait to see them go for gold in El Salvador.”

The representatives are:

WOMEN

Australia, a world power in surfing, finished in a modest 13th place in the last edition of the world championship, which also took place in El Salvador.

“I am privileged to have been chosen to represent Australia at the upcoming 2024 ISA World Longboard Championships in El Salvador. Australia is recognised worldwide as an iconic surfing nation and I look forward to showcasing our country’s exceptional talent and passion for longboarding on the world stage. I have had the privilege of representing Australia at the 2018 and 2019 ISA World Longboard Championships held in Hainan, China and Biarritz, France respectively. These events, organized by the ISA, brought together longboarders from all over the world, creating an incredible experience. I had the opportunity to visit El Salvador previously for the WSL World Longboard Tour 2023. “El Salvador is an amazing place with incredible waves and I can’t wait to get back there with the team and represent my country,” said team member Declan Wyton.
