A solid team with experience and a lot of talent on the right will seek its place in surfing's debut at the Olympic Games
Presented by: Surf City El Salvador
Jonathan Gato Chila Zambrano, Israel Barona, Carlos Goncalves, Dominic Barona, Gemenis Borja and Susana Barrezueta will be the members of the Ecuador team at the Surf City ISA World Surfing Games that will take place in El Salvador between May 29 and June 6, a source close to the federation informed DUKE.
The team will be coached by former professional surfers and former Ecuadorian champions Mario Gambellini and Marcos Goncalves. The Team Manager will be Sebastián Florido.
The backside attack of Zambrano and Barona is recognized as one of the best in America, the first one raised on the right-hand side of Playas and the second on that of Montañita, and has earned them several Latin and international titles.
Israel Barona and Carlos Goncalves are two talented surfers with a lot of international experience; both have surfed waves around the world and the youngest faces of the team come with Gemenis Borja and Susana Berrezueta.
If they place among the top seven eligible women or top five eligible men, they will secure their ticket to Tokyo 2020.
The ISA World Championships in El Salvador represent the last step towards Olympic qualification and are expected to break records in terms of the presence of international teams and important names.
