This is how Marcelo Castellanos experienced Bryan Pérez's aerial madness in 2024.

The coach's account of one of the best moments in the history of the Salvadoran CT: "We hadn't even practiced an aerial because we were taking care of the knee; we had said and talked about not taking too many risks," he says.

That aerial and all that emotion, there's an inner part that I haven't talked about. And that's what that aerial meant… It wasn't just a simple aerial, it wasn't like I was competing with Ítalo, it wasn't just that.

That was the context, that was where Bryan was coming from. He was coming off knee surgery, he hadn't competed, we'd already been training but hadn't even practiced an aerial because we were taking care of his knee; we'd talked and talked about not taking too many risks.

But before that series, we talked and said, "Do what you feel, what you have to do, and go for it." We didn't talk about aerials. But from there, he knew what he needed. He saw the opportunity, he saw the ramp, and he was already in full Pink Panther mode, and he threw the aerial. When he threw it, the first thing I felt was the excitement of watching it, but also the nerves because we hadn't been doing aerials for the same reason, to protect his knee... And it wasn't just that he threw a little aerial, he went airborne.

So it's nothing, that's part of the whole excitement... It was seeing that he had landed it, seeing that the score had been excellent but also because of the context of where he came from, which is that we didn't even know if he was going to be ready to surf the event and from there to throwing an air of that category was super, super exciting.

In short, that great emotion was for the same reason: because it wasn't just a simple aerial, but rather the action of saying, "I'm fine, ready, let's go all out," and all the goals we had and the focus on the Olympic Games remained awake.

Because if such a recent injury created uncertainty, we didn't know if I was going to return to 100% and that was the seal... As if saying: "Boom, here I am back and I'm giving it my all!"
