The Panamanian Surfing Association announced today the team that will defend the colors of its country at the ISA World Surfing Games that will take place between May 29 and June 6, 2021 in El Salvador.

In a press release sent to DUKE it is stated that the complete team mixes experience with youth and is made up as follows:

Men
Jean Carlos Oli Camarena Gonzalez
Isauro Elizondo
Tao Rodriguez

Women
Samantha Alonso
Andrea Vlieg
Sara Sanchez

It is also noted that the team's coach, Giovanni Greco, was the one who carried out the selection process and performed technical and tactical evaluations.

They also reported that Camarena and Alonso are already in El Salvador training.

Camarena achieved the best historical result for Panama in an ISA World Surfing Games when he competed in the world championship at his local beach, Santa Catalina, in 2013. Oli himself comes from being runner-up in the ALAS event that took place in La Bocana (one of the world championship venues), losing in the final to Carlos Muñoz.

The World Championships in El Salvador are the last qualifying stage for the Tokyo 2021 Games, and the last 12 places for seven women and five men will be determined from there.

Elizondo and Rodriguez are both young athletes with a lot of experience in international events; both have shined at NSSA events in the United States.
