This is how Uruguay travels to the Pan American Surfing Championship

Eleven Uruguayans will seek medals and qualification for Santiago 2023

Eleven surfers divided into five divisions will be representing Uruguay at the Pan American Surfing Games that will take place in Santa Catalina, Panama between April 21 and 30.

According to the Uruguayan Surfing Union, the team was decided “after meetings with the Uruguayan Olympic Committee, the National Sports Secretariat and the Uruguay Sports Foundation.”

The team will have four out of four open men and two out of two male longboarders, then it will have three open women, one female longboarder and one SUP racer who are:

-Martin Ottado
-Sebastian Olarte

OPEN LADIES:

-Marcela Machado
-Sofia Alfonso

Uruguay finished in tenth place out of 17 teams in last year's Pan American Games held in Playa Venao, also in Panama.

The best individual result was achieved by Nacho Pignataro, who won bronze, and Julián Schweizer, who won copper.

The Pan American Surfing Games offer places in all divisions for Santiago 2023.
