USA Surfing, the governing body for American surfing, has just announced the four longboarders who will be part of their country's team that will compete in the ISA World Longboard Championships from April 19 to 25.

The team, which placed fifth overall last year, has changed from last year, keeping only one member, the talented Kaitlin Mikkelson (who was eighth that time) and now forms like this:

Men
Kevin Skvarna, San Juan Capistrano, CA
Chase Lieder, Montauk, NY

Women
Kaitlin Mikkelson, Encinitas, CA
Rachael Tilly, Capistrano Beach, CA

Of the four, the one with the best resume is precisely Tilly, who was already world champion in her division and who was in El Salvador last year but working as a commentator.

Skvarna is still a very respected classic longboarder in the eccentric world of classic longboarders.

However, the two of them were the team gold winners at the ISA World Longboard Championships in China in 2018, with Skvarna finishing fourth and Tilly eighth.

Chase Lieder is the young blood of the team, he is 18 years old and hails from the East Coast, from the perfect waves of Montauk.

“I have full confidence that this team can go and do it again,” Tilly said. “This will be my third time representing Team USA at the ISA World Longboard Championships and I’m so excited!”

"It's great to be the young man on the team," said 18-year-old Chase Lieder in an interview with the media. "My main goal is to inspire kids, just open their minds to surfing and connecting with the ocean," USA Surfing said on its Instagram.
