This is the classification criteria for the Lima 2019 surfing event

This is how the list of 88 athletes who will compete in the different disciplines in the first participation of the table in the Pan American Games is made up.

The qualification criteria for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games supervised by the Pan American Association are as follows:

88 athletes have qualified and will be distributed in the following divisions: Open Surf men (16), Open Surf women (16), SUP Surf men (9), SUP Surf women (9), SUP Race men (10), SUP Race women (10), Longboard men (9) and Longboard women (9).

In Open Men and Open Women, it is classified as follows and with the following order of hierarchy:

-2 places for the host country
-2 spots for the country that occupies first place in the country ranking of the Pan American PASA 2018 (they do not necessarily have to come from the Pan American, they can come from the WSGames or ALAS following the hierarchy criteria).
-2 spots for the country that occupies second place in the country ranking of the Pan American PASA 2018 (they do not necessarily have to come from the Pan American, they can come from the WSGames or ALAS following the hierarchy criteria).
-2 spots for the champion and runner-up of the 2018 ALAS Tour.
-2 spots for the best athletes in the region at the ISA World Surfing Games 2018 event.
-6 places per gender according to the 2018 Pan American PASA ranking.

In case a country has more athletes classified by other events such as ISA, PASA or ALAS, the ISA ranking will take priority, then the PASA ranking and finally the ALAS ranking.

This means that an ISA world champion from a Pan American country could be left out of the tournament if a compatriot manages to get a place among the top six in the Pan American Surfing Championship.

Of those qualifiers, which are 32 (16 women and 16 men), two (one man and one woman) will guarantee themselves a place in Tokyo 2020.

For the rest of the divisions, the classification criteria are as follows:

Longboard
In both genders, the following will be designated:
