This is the qualification process for the World Beach Games

96 surfers, 64 shortboarders and 32 longboarders will compete in the second edition of the event (the first to include surfing) in Bali between August 5 and 12


The second edition of the World Beach Games will take place in Bali, Indonesia between August 5 and 12 and will feature surfing as one of its 14 disciplines and shortboarding and longboarding as two of 45 medal events.

A total of 64 places for shortboarders, 32 men and 32 women, and 32 longboarders, 16 men and 16 women, will qualify as follows, according to the Association of National Olympic Committees, in the document published on its website (see below):

-The maximum number of athletes per national Olympic committee is two male shortboarders, two female shortboarders, one male longboarder and one female longboarder.

For shortboard

-The first 23 surfers eligible through the ISA World Surfing Games 2023 in El Salvador, with a maximum of two per country.

-The five best surfers who have not qualified by the previous point in the ISA World Surfing Games representing the five continents: Asia, Africa, Europe, America and Oceania.

-Four local surfers, two women and two men.

-Four guests, two women and two men.

For longboard

-The top 9 in the ISA longboard world championship in El Salvador

-The five that have not been classified by the previous point and that are the best ranked by continent countries: Asia, Africa, Europe, America and Oceania

-Two local longboarders (one man and one woman)

-Two invited longboarders (one man and one woman).

In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker will be based on the score in the last heat of the 2023 ISA World Surfing Games.

Thus, surfing, short board and longboard will have 96 surfers participating in the event in Bali.
