The 2025 Pan American Surfing Championship, called the PASA Games Guatemala 2025 Pan American Surf Festival, will be held in Playa Hawaii, Monterrico, Santa Rosa, from July 3 to 13, event organizers from the Guatemalan Surfing Association (Asosurf) told DUKE.

“The challenge of bringing the Pan American Surfing Championship to Guatemala from July 3 to 13, 2025, is a call to join forces, celebrate the passion for surfing, and show the world the beauty of our coasts,” said Eduardo del Cid, a member of the association.

He added: “Achieving the goal of hosting the Pan American Surfing Championship in Guatemala is an opportunity to boost tourism and the local economy, while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. With the Pan American Surfing Championship on our beaches, we will not only showcase the talent of our Guatemalan surfers, but we will also put Guatemala on the international sports map. It was time to act.”

The Pan American Games bring together the best surfers, longboarders, bodyboarders, and SUPers on the continent.

PASA has not announced what the full team will be like for this edition, but the last one held in Peru had 22 members (three shortboarders per gender, two longboarders per gender, two bodyboarders per gender, two SUP surfers per gender, and two SUP racers per gender).

It is one of the biggest surfing events in existence today.

In an interview with DUKE at the end of 2024, Asosurf president Bertrand Piedrasanta explained that one of the goals of his term was to win the Pan American Games this year.
