This year the Los Cabos Open will be a special soft tops event

After five consecutive editions being one of the most important QSs of the women's season, it became an invitational tournament and changed beaches

The Los Cabos Open of surfing, one of the favorite tournaments for women's QS and junior pro surfers, will become a special WSL tournament this year in which eight renowned surfers will compete on a softtop.

It will take place on Monuments Beach and not at Zippers, it will last only three days, between June 21 and 23, and the guests are Rob Machado, Sage Erickson, Josh Kerr, Blair Conklin, Jhony Corzo and Oliver Kurtz.

The description of the new event on the official website states that they will be taking a break from the traditional QSs this year to hold this special event that will also feature music, food and fashion festivals.

The Los Cabos Open of Surf was key in the women's QS over the last five years because in addition to awarding 6000 points, the event was held on perfect pointbreak waves.

It was the event of that category with the best waves of the year. The rest of the 6000m were held in beach break conditions, which were almost always quite bad.
