The arrival of summer is felt in Mar del Plata and surrounding areas, a city that has 800.000 people throughout the year and receives more than three million tourists in three months to become one of the epicenters of the hot season in the southern hemisphere.

Life changes for the locals, the sea tends to get smaller but the water warms up a bit and the days are spent much longer on the beach.

Competitive activity also increases as many sponsors want to be part of the super summer and a good number of championships are held.

For some, there's also vacation time, more family time (or the only family time of the year), more nightlife, and a whole lot more.

As stated by the Argentine youth revelation Coco Cianciarulo: “Summer in Mar del Plata is magical, and I wouldn't change it for anything. It's when you most enjoy the beautiful beaches we have, and when I meet up with family and friends who come to visit us."

This is what five local members of the Quiksilver team, of different ages and profiles, had to say about what they have set as their goals for the summer, as well as some other interesting comments.

1: Playing with my band “Lost Marplas”, which is a project I have with my brothers.
2: Free surfing with family and being happy
3: Prepare and train hard for international competitions

“In the summer we do various activities, we play soccer, there are championships, fun events like Quiksilver 70's,” said the talented Cianciarulo.

Lucia Indurain

Argentine champion, top 5 of the WSL South America

1: Being an Argentine open champion
2: Qualify for Tokyo 2020
3: I would like to go on a surf trip to the Miramar surf spots looking for waves. I have been thinking about it for a while and I want to start planning it, like a tent, a campfire, everything, and make a good video out of it.

Maxi Siri has a busy summer, it is not his favorite season of the year, but he appreciates the chance to get some rubber off his back, spend time with his family, stay at the top of the Argentine tour and grow his business. Photo: Christian Martínez

Maxi Siri

Five-time Argentine champion, fanatical CrossFit teacher, family man

1: One of my sporting goals this summer is to compete on the Argentine circuit. Last year I finished the season well and I want to try to stay ranked among the top 8. The level is very high but I want to keep fighting.

2: On the other hand, it is a great time to enjoy time with the family, so another goal would be to take advantage of our beautiful city with my wife and children, and continue trying to convince the women in the house to start surfing, although I have been failing for years.

3: And as a business objective to continue growing in @jarkoconstitucion, a venture together with my partners where satisfaction comes from seeing  how people are motivated and improve their quality of life, it is a nice environment where you make new friends constantly and that is great.

Another summer is coming to Mar del Plata, personally it is not my favorite time of the year, mainly because of the waves that are usually missing and we all know that this does not contribute to our best version.

Apart from that, I'm already starting my two jobs: I'm a lifeguard in the mornings and I teach CrossFit classes in the afternoons, so adding my personal training and my family life, each day is pretty exhausting. However, I love what I do, so I always have the energy to keep up the pace.
