Tica Brisa Hennessy went straight into round 3 at Bells
She finished second in a close series in Winkipop against Steph Gilmore who won and Molly Picklum who despite surfing the best wave, fell to the repechage
World ranking leader Brisa Hennessy of Costa Rica placed second in her debut heat at the Rip Curl Pro Bells and is now into Round 3 of the event.
Brisa was smart in her wave selection and her approach to surfing, completing moves and taking risks in thoughtful ways to get the score she needed.
The final result of the series left Steph Gilmore first with 12,16 (6,33+5,83), Brisa second with 11,16 (5,33+5,83) and Molly Picklum third with 10,20 (7,5+2,7).
Hennessy is currently ranked number one, and is now guaranteed a spot in the second half of the year and fighting for a place in the WSL Finals, where the top five players in the rankings compete for the world championship.
