Tokyo Olympics to be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021
Authorities confirmed the new dates today
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will take place between July 23 and August 8, international news agencies reported after the International Olympic Committee and the Tokyo 2020 organization met today.
The change is for one day before the original dates established for 2020 (24th to 9th).
Last week, both the Japanese government and the IOC, after a meeting between the two presidents, announced that the games “would not be held later than the summer of 2021.”
As far as waves are concerned, the outlook for Shida Shita is not changing much; there is a storm surge that has appeared in three of the last four years.
Dates for the surfing test have not yet been released.
The ISA informed DUKE that, based on the change of date of Tokyo 2020, they are evaluating different scenarios for the holding of the World Championship in El Salvador, which is currently scheduled for June 6-14.
