Costa Rican surfer Tomás King just finished third in the QS 1500 at the perfect waves of Cloud 9, Siargao, Philippines. After a week of impeccable surfing, in a semi-final to remember, he was unable to beat local John Mark Tokong (who later won the event).

The final ended 19,05 (9,5 + 9,55) to 15,30 (8,3 + 7). With this result he would have won the other semi, but he was drawn against a very inspired Tokong at home.

King had started the day by beating Australian Thomas Cervi.

The 840 points he scored put him in 185th place in the rankings, up 52 places after the event. This is Tomás' best result of the year, in which he competed in eight tournaments.

Coincidentally, Tomás' best career result was the runner-up position in this very tournament in 2017, where he lost in the final to Raoni Monteiro of Brazil.

This is the third best result of his career, the second being a fifth place at the Vans Pro 3000 in Virginia in 2017.

The Costa Rican has not yet posted anything regarding his result on his social networks, as can be seen in his stories, he left the championship directly to get a new tattoo, a souvenir from the Philippines.

Final result of the event:
1- John Mark Tokong
2- Noah Beschen
3- Thomas King and Bronson Meydi
5- Thomas Cervi, Elliot Paerata Reid, Calum Robson and Oney Anwar
