An overly promising forecast for the waves at La Aguada in Rocha forced the Uruguayan Surf Union to change the location of its fourth date, which was originally scheduled to take place in Maldonado.
The Rip Curl Pro presented by La Isla, the fourth of six stages of the Uruguayan tour, will take place tomorrow, Thursday, October 23, and the best surfers in the country are expected there.
The fight for the Uruguayan title this year is between Lucas Madrid, who leads, and Patán Olarte, who is close behind by 2860 points to 2443. Madrid won two stages and came second in another, and Olarte won one, came second in another and reached the semis in the other.
With four out of six stages counting for the final ranking, if Madrid wins in La Aguada it will be putting one and a half hands on the title since it would leave Olarte alone with a chance and forcing him to win the two remaining stages for it to be decided in a playoff (it goes to the next stage, to the discards).
Madrid, if they win, would reach the almost perfect score of 3860 points out of a possible 4000. Olarte would have to hope to win the next two games and draw the score.
However, with a victory under his belt, Olarte can easily win the three remaining stages and achieve a perfect score of 4.000 points.
The forecast shows the perfect combination for La Aguada, east-southeast swell and northwest wind with waves of one meter and a period of 13 seconds.
Promise.
