Peruvian Miguel Tudela has just tied his best WSL career result after advancing to the quarterfinals at the Burton Automotive Pro, QS 6.000 being held in Merewether, Newcastle, Australia.

Tudela beat former CT member Miguel Pupo thanks to a good choice of waves and an effective attack on them. He scored 12,34, which was much higher than the Brazilian's 9,3, and made it to the quarter-finals, where he will face the Australian kid of the moment, Jack Robinson.

“Happy and motivated, tomorrow is the final day! We're going all out, series by series,” Tudela wrote in a post on Instagram.

The result, which guarantees him at least 2.650 points, ties the fifth he obtained in the 6.000m in Pantín, Galicia in 2017 and if he wins one more series it will become the best of his career.

It is not a minor thing to take into account that he will be making it into the top 10, nor the fact that he competed in three tournaments in the season (Pipe, Noronha and here) and in all three he scored over a thousand points.

For his part, Carlos Muñoz of Costa Rica surfed a good series against the Frenchman Charly Quivront but was narrowly beaten. There was one attempt in which he performed a good aerial and finished with one more maneuver that the judges came close to: He needed seven and they gave him 6,23.

With 1550 points to his name, his ninth in the tournament, Muñoz has moved into the top 40 and achieved his best result so far this year.
