Two QS stages confirmed in Brazil in November
The first post-pandemic WSL events in South America will be in Praia Mole and Saquarema
The QS, junior and longboard events will return to Brazil after almost two years without competitions there, between November 10 and 21 there will be two tournaments, one in Praia Mole, Florianópolis and the other in Saquarema, reported the WSL Latin America in a press release.
The Floripa Layback Pro presented by Billabong will be held from the 10th to the 14th, and will be a men's QS 3000 and a women's QS 1000. The other will be the Saquarema Surf Festival from the 15th to the 21st, which will count as a men's and women's QS 3000, a men's and women's Pro Junior and a men's and women's Longboard.
Points from these tournaments will count towards the 2021/2022 regional ranking.
“We are very happy to announce two new events in Brazil, very important for Brazilian surfers and those from other South American countries,” said Ivan Martinho, CEO of WSL Latin America, who highlighted the return of WSL competitive surfing to Brazil after Italo’s gold medal and Medina’s three-time winner. “Now is the time for new talents to show their worth and be part of this history.”
