Two weeks for the history books in Chile are coming up
The Iquique and Arica tournaments no longer have room for more male competitors. After two weeks, five champions will be crowned from among 361 competitors.
The two men's QS 3000 events to be held in Chile from mid-May to early June in Iquique and Arica have reached their full quota of entrants more than 10 days before the first event begins.
The Heroes of May, which will take place in Iquique between the 20th and 26th, has a capacity for 144 surfers and the Maui and Sons Arica Pro, which will take place between the 28th and 2nd of June, has a capacity for 112 surfers.
For the first there are two people on the waiting list and for the second 12.
The list of athletes has plenty of interesting names. In addition to the cream of the crop of the Latin squad, there are Hawaiians Kai Lenny and Dusty Payne, Australian defending champion Jack Robinson and former CT Ian Gouveia, among many others.
In Iquique, there will also be three other categories: Women, Junior Men and Women and the number of entrants, although not complete, seems abundant; there are 45 women pros, 19 juniors and 41 junior men.
This means that in two weeks five champions have been crowned in two locations in Chile, with a total of 361 competitors across all categories, genders and events.
