Uruguay defined a powerful complete team for the World Cup in El Salvador

These are the six Celestes who will go to the biggest ISA World Surfing Games in history

The news of Uruguayan surfing in DUKE, are presented by Chivipizza

Marco Giorgi, Lucas Madrid, Sebastián Olarte, Marcela Machado, Delfina Morosini and Sofía Alfonso are the six representatives of the Uruguayan surfing team that will play the last chance to qualify for Tokyo 2021, the president of the Uruguayan Surfing Union, Federico Deal, informed DUKE.

The selection, which before the pandemic was to travel to El Salvador with a larger team and there would define the final team, was definitively determined, with a combination of surfers with experience on the world tour, on the Latin circuit and a ton of national titles.

Giorgi is currently in the top 100 of the WSL QS ranking, Madrid is the 2019 Latin champion, Olarte is a four-time Uruguayan champion with incredible consistency in ISA world championships, Morosini is more than 10 times national champion (if her junior titles are considered), Machado, resident in the Canary Islands, is one of the best surfers in that archipelago and Alfonso is a very experienced and highly trained local surfer with experience in international events.

Yesterday, Giorgi made public his itinerary, indicating that he will compete again in El Salvador, looking for a place for Tokyo, sharing a video that shows him attacking forehands, like those that break in El Salvador.

Uruguay will be looking to secure four spots (two for men and two for women) out of the 12 remaining to be decided for surfing's historic debut at the Olympic Games in the waves of La Bocana and El Sunzal.

Seven women and five men will qualify for the event in El Salvador. The event will feature the best in the world's top surfing division, such as John John Florence, Kolohe Andino, Gabriel Medina, Italo Ferreira and many others.
