Lineup.surf, a Uruguayan website that offers surfing forecasts, live wave cameras and wave reports, received $210.000 in private investment to consolidate its position in the country and project itself into international markets, according to the website of the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (CUTI).
“The investment came from private investors in Uruguay, including leaders in the technology sector with many years of experience and entrepreneurs from the world of surfing with a long track record and key knowledge, who will help Lineup achieve its goals for 2023,” the press release states.
The startup's CEO, Fabián Fernández, said: “The huge success of the launch is what has largely allowed us to raise the capital needed to carry out our vision for 2023. We started with our own capital, but what we needed now was more capital, more know-how and the support of key investors.”
The press release also highlights that they are developing a paid Premium service that will allow access to new features and will be ready in three months.
“They will be totally innovative, providing a very important added value for our users. In addition, we are investing heavily in research and development, applying Artificial Intelligence to forecasts and cameras, which will allow us to have a lasting competitive advantage in the medium and long term,” adds the CEO.
Lineup.surf was launched in December 2021. The website started with three cameras, now it has seven and its founders' goal is to expand internationally.
