WSL confirms first two stages of 2023 Challenger Series
Snapper Rocks and Narrabeen open the tour in May
After a long wait, the WSL has confirmed the first two stages of the Challenger Series, which will take place at Snapper Rocks between May 6 and 13 and at Narrabeen between May 17 and 24.
The WSL has not yet announced the rest of the events for this tour, which it had told competitors would be announced on November 15.
Not all of the surfers who will compete in the tournaments have been announced yet, but it is known that the number has been reduced this year, from 96 to 80 men and from 64 to 48 women.
The 2022 Challenger calendar had seven stages.
The competitors of each challenger are made up of:

-12 men and seven women from the CT who did not make the mid-year cut
-10 men and five women from the previous year's challenger ranking
-Three men and two women who were members of the CT and who were reclassified neither to the CT nor to the challengers
-49 men and 30 women from the seven WSL regions
-Two world junior champions (one man and one woman)
-Five men and three women wildcards per event.
