The WSL confirmed a CT 2019 schedule with very few changes
There will be Pipe Masters, the US Open will no longer be a CT for women and will be replaced by the Portugal event, Margaret River will be held later to avoid encounters with sharks
There will be no major changes to the 2019 men's World Champions Tour (WC), the first WC with Olympic implications, the WSL said today; it will maintain all the same stages from 2018 except that it will start later in April and the order of the Margaret River stage will be changed to a later date (to avoid encounters with sharks).
Among the ladies, however, the US Open will no longer be a CT event but will become a QS 10.000 event (a level that they do not currently have); this stage will be replaced by the women's union with the men's event in Peniche, Portugal.
The women's final championship, which is always held in Honolua Bay, does not state in its title that it will be held in the same location, as is the case with the rest of the events. And speaking of titles, the tournaments that Quiksilver traditionally sponsors do not carry the brand in their name (Gold Coast and France).
The Fiji and Lowers stages are still missing and, above all, there is no trace of the final tournament that had been talked about, which was to be held between the best in the Mentawai.
