The WSL has just given the green light to a tow in surfing event that will take place in Nazaré on February 10.

The announcement is confusing because the Nazaré Tow Surfing Challenge took place in December and had already crowned its champions.

They now point out that the following competitors will compete:
Team Red: Lucas Chianca (BRA), Nic Von Rupp (PRT)
Team Cyan Blue: Justine Dupont (FRA), Antonio Laureano (FRA)
Team Brown: Andrew Cotton (GBR), Will Skudin (USA)
Team Pink: Rodrigo Koxa (BRA), Eric Rebiere (FRA)
Team Green: Axi Muniain (EUK), Francisco Porcella (ITA)
Team Blue: Michelle Bouillons (BRA), Ian Cosenza (PRT)
Team Yellow: Rafael Tapia (CHL), Jaime Mitchell (AUS)
Team Purple: Joao de Macedo (PRT), Antonio Silva (PRT)
Team Black: Maya Gabeira (BRA), Pierre Caley (FRA)

The nine teams will be divided into three groups with three teams in each group. The competition will have six 60-minute heats and each team will participate in two heats.

The two best waves for each surfer will be added together and the best of each will be worth double, with 30 being the maximum possible points.

The following “multiple categories” will be awarded, the WSL statement said:

-Best male performance
-Best female performance
-Best team
-Greatest risk award

The event will be broadcast on Red Bull TV.
