This is the Founders' Cup format
All against all on the first day, six waves per surfer, of which the two best are added together, the best three make it to the finals on Sunday
The format of the competition, the last detail that remained to be known about the Founders' Cup, was released yesterday by the WSL. The first instance, on Saturday, will be all against all, with the best three qualifying for the final round on Sunday.
On the first day there will be three “runs” in which all the surfers of the five teams will participate, organized by team. Each surfer will end up surfing six waves, three lefts and three rights. The two best waves of each surfer (the best left and the best right) add to the final score and the three best teams qualify for the final day.

The following day there will be heats of three surfers with each of the qualified teams. Unlike what happened the day before, now the position in the heats will matter, which will add points as follows:
- Series 1 to 3: The first adds 2 points, the second 1 point and the third 0
- Series 4 and 5: The first adds 4 points, the second 1 point and the third 0 points
The team with the most points wins.
It is worth noting that the choice of surfers by the captain of series 4 and 5 will be fundamental in defining the champion, the winner of each of these series adds double.
If there is a tie, two surfers will be chosen, one woman and one man, each will surf a wave and the total score, with a maximum of 20 points, will determine the winning team.
