WSL reported that the finals were the most watched event of the entity in history

With 6,8 million live views, it surpassed the Medina versus Ferreira final at Pipe

The WSL Finals were the most-watched live event in WSL history, the organization said in a statement posted on its website Thursday.

According to reports, with 6,8 views of the live broadcast, it surpassed Gabriel Medina's final with Italo Ferreira in Pipe in 2019, which was the previous record.

They also explained that the preview of the finals also set a record with more than 11 million views.

The number of views on YouTube was also higher, the statement said, adding that they are awaiting the figures from the TV channels that broadcast the championship.

“Seeing the top 10 of the year battle it out on incredible waves and the men’s and women’s world titles being decided in one day for the first time was truly special. This new format captivated our audience and increased viewership like never before,” said WSL CEO Erik Logan.
