The World Surf League will change its points distribution system in the qualifying series (QS) in 2020, going from having QS 1000, 1500, 3000, 6000 and 10.000 to 1.000, 1.500, 3.000, 5.000 and the introduction of the challenger, which will be the highest level event.
This information was provided by the WSL's vice president of Latin American events, Xandi Fontes, at a closed-door meeting held on August 2 at the new high-performance center in Punta Rocas. Representatives of about 10 Latin American federations and other regional leaders participated in the meeting, several members of the meeting informed and confirmed to DUKE.
The official announcement of the change will be made by the WSL on September 3.
The aforementioned meeting sought to further unite regional leaders with the new WSL that has now expanded its borders, South America to all of Latin America.
