Chelan County in Washington State, United States is producing the largest static wave in the world, the website reported yesterday SurfertodayThe construction will be carried out by the German company Citywaves, which will invest around five million dollars and will open to the public in the American summer of this year (June to September). The infrastructure will be installed in Chelan County, in the Slidewater water park as an independent space with its own schedule called Lakeside Surf.

The pool will be able to create waves up to 1.8 metres high and will be adjustable in size and volume. There will also be surf lessons, training and competitions. “The wave will challenge surfers to improve at all levels. We are excited about the opportunities this amazing technology will create. We see potential for hosting world-class surfers, championships, Olympic training as well as introducing surfing to northern Washington,” said another of the creators, Burke Bordner.

“Lakeside Surf will operate before and after Slidewaters opens each day, as well as earlier and later in the year. We want to welcome surfers every month of the year,” said one of the owners of the venture, Robert Bordner.

Citywaves already has swimming pools in Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Israel and Japan and is currently building ones in Russia and Switzerland.
