Why did Tatiana move to Brazil and with this it is almost certain that she will go to Tokyo 2020?
Now there are two Brazilians in the CT who, by staying in the elite for 2019, will complete their nation's quota
Hawaiian and Brazilian Tatiana Weston-Webb made official today her change of country, from the United States to Brazil, and with this she practically guaranteed her arrival at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Why is it that so far away from the event there is such a certainty that the athlete will qualify? Because in the order of hierarchy for qualifying for the Games, the CT appears first, then come the 2020 World Surfing Games, the 2019 World Surfing Games and the Pan American Games.
Until today, Brazil had one athlete, Silvana Lima, and Tatiana makes two. Basically, with this move, the two surfers need to stay in the CT until next year to fill the Brazilian quota for Tokyo 2020. Right now, Weston Webb is fourth; she has one foot in.
On the other hand, Silvana Lima always breaks through in the QS and the rest of the Brazilians have not had good performances in recent years in the entry division.
