"No one is free from the coronavirus and I have caught it," the Basque wrote on social media
The current world champion in category VI 1 of the ISA world championship of adapted surfing, Aitor "Gallo" Francesena, has been diagnosed positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus, he reported on social media, attaching a photo showing him hospitalized in the Guipuzkoa hospital.
"No one is free from coronavirus and I have caught it," Gallo wrote on Instagram. "I have felt so well looked after at the Policlínica de Gipuzkoa hospital, a great team of professionals, thank you very much to everyone. Thanks also to Basqueteam for being there in these difficult times. Annoyed but going all out!" he added.
Francesena returned from what was the last international surfing event to take place once the coronavirus was declared a pandemic, the AmpSurf ISA World Para Surfing Championship, which took place between March 11 and 14 in La Jolla, California.
The tournament ended a day early due to the pandemic and Gallo won her second gold medal in the blind category.
His post on social media already has more than 3000 likes and 830 comments, including one from the great Aritz Aranburu.
