Brazilian Yago Dora has just become world champion for the first time in his career after winning the first heat of the finals in Cloudbreak, Fiji.
To claim his title, he defeated Griffin Colapinto, who had won the second and third matches.
After Colapinto surfed a good first wave and it seemed that another heat was going in favor of the Californian, Dora surfed a strong wave with two maneuvers that put him ahead.
But the key came in a solid left hand in which he was able to make three solid maneuvers that were worth 8,33.
Another key was a rowing battle that began with Griffin ahead but Yago overtook him, taking priority in the final 12 minutes.
The final result was 15,66 to 11,5.
Dora's title adds to the seven won by Brazilians (Medina x3, Toledo x2, Ferreira x1 and De Souza x1) and is the eighth Brazilian title in 11 years.
