Yago Dora will be ready to return for the G-Land stage
Those around him say that if Medina returns for that stop, the Brazilian is already guaranteed to receive the wildcard due to injury in 2023.
CT 10 top 2022 Yago Dora took his first steps yesterday without foot protection and his doctors announced that the surfer could be ready for the sixth stage of the tour that will take place in G-Land, Indonesia, between June 28 and May 6.
According to the Brazilian site Waves, in the event that the current world champion, Gabriel Medina, returns for the stage, his return would be for the 2023 tour because the criteria in case of injuries are the following: Degree of injury, position in the ranking and evolution within the WSL.
“Yago is super calm, we are not in a hurry. If he doesn’t return in the middle of the year, his place for next year is already guaranteed. He is waiting and preparing to be ready for G-Land. Otherwise, he will wait and return next year, even more prepared,” the surfer’s manager, Daniel Cortez, told Waves.
Dora had torn the ligaments in her ankle while performing an aerial on December 23 last year. She had to undergo surgery, from which she emerged successfully.
He spent more than two months unable to walk without the aid of a boot that protected him. Yesterday he managed to do so for the first time.
Doctors are optimistic about his progress.
