Yago Dora will not renew with Volcom in 2026
The partnership ended after 14 years; its main sponsor will become a core brand owned by surfers; it also adds a major brand from outside the industry as a secondary sponsor
2026 will begin with new developments for current world champion Yago Dora; the tip of his board will no longer feature the Volcom stone but rather a brand endemic to the surfing world that continues to be operated by surfers, an industry source told DUKE.
This marks the end of the relationship between Dora and Volcom after 14 years. The 29-year-old surfer had been with the brand since he was 15.
Dora will also add to her portfolio of sponsors a giant of the sports world but from outside the world of surfing in a contract that all indications are one of the most significant of the surfer's career.
Dora hadn't had the happiest of years with Volcom in 2025, even removing the logo after some payments were delayed.
The company had been caught in the middle of the change of ownership to ABG and the bankruptcy of Liberated Brands, which caused back and forth with its entire team of surfers.
Today, Stab magazine reported that the surfer's contract with Volcom ends this year and casts doubt on its renewal; the article suggests that the brand of his surfboard could change.
The brand will definitely change, this source told DUKE, and it will not be a publicly traded company or owned by shareholders, but by surfers.
