A beast called Sol Aguirre
The magic of those who shine when they face the best; it would be very strange not to see the Peruvian in the CT in the coming years

The most common behavior of a wildcard in an event of the caliber of a CT is either to fall apart and not achieve anything or to surf safely, without showing the best of himself; leaving aside the planned strategy, victim of nerves, misusing priority, and so on. Doing everything contrary to what led him to earn that place.
Sol Aguirre did the exact opposite today: She rose to the occasion, showing that she deserves that spot and that she didn't win that series against Carissa Moore by pure chance.
While Carissa was falling, Sol already had two waves that put pressure on her Hawaiian style and as if that were not enough, following the script of her coach Gabriel Aramburu, she stuck to the yellow lycra and put more pressure on it.
Carissa found two waves that barely opened up for her and she made the score but nothing was finished, Sol needed only 3,67 and had priority. Knowing everything she has done in Saquarema, the series was in her hands.
But the waves didn't come and she ended up losing in a series in which the five-time world champion looked over her shoulder to see what the Peruvian was doing.
If we have to draw a conclusion from this: Sol Aguirre, who is 18 years old, is a future world champion, a worthy member of the CT, a born competitor who does not hesitate when competing, rather, with all her charm outside the water, it seems that inside she wants to devour her rivals.
The final sign of what was a historic day for the Peruvian was the interview she did on the live broadcast. She appeared composed, polite, soft-spoken and with very good English, saying she was grateful, but always in attack mode: “I just needed one more wave,” she said, making it clear that everything is very nice for her with the experience and everything she has learned, but that she wanted to win that heat and continue in the event.
She also said that she was proud of herself, and how good it is for her to feel that way.
It would be really strange if a surfer like Sol Aguirre wasn't on the CT soon. She deserves it.
