A board for Punta Rocas has to have a good entry because the wave, although strong and large, is not a very standing wave, so you need an early entry, good flotation, and a good distribution of volume that will give you that extra paddle.

That distribution, not as much as the Flopos which is more at the tip, goes more towards the chest, towards the entrance of the chest, because towards the tip and the tail, the board has to be refined so that it sticks well and has good movement.

This is because Punta Rocas has stopped sections, but it also has sloppy sections, so in that sloppy section and without much force you need the board to dig in well, therefore, if you put a board with a lot of edge, it may have a tendency to bounce and not land well.

Table sizes

Regarding board sizes, you can surf Punta Rocas chico, with a small board, if you use a 5'10, you can use from that size to a 6'2 at the professional level, if it is a more intermediate level, there are people who surf with 8 feet in Punta Rocas grande, with four meters.

Round tail recommended

The perfect tail for that wave can be a round tail that makes the board feel free when maneuvering, but also gives it good grip when the wave is more sucked in.

Rocker

Single concave rocker so that the board has a good transition from edge to edge at all times, in all types of waves. When the wave is like this, like sucked in one part and sloppy in another, we need to make the board as simple as possible, because we have a combination of several types of waves in one.

The single will work at all times, it will be stable and loose in the pocket at the sucked moment and will leave the transition from edge to edge smooth and fluid in the swell part of the wave.

The rocker has to be a medium rocker in the front so that the board has speed and a good rocker in the back so that it has freedom, that is for Punta Rocas.

Ideal models: Tiki or Rock Star

The models could be the Tiki, which was the one used by Lolo Bellorín, or it could be the Rock Star model, which is for the days when he is a little bit bigger, it is the 6'2 that he has. It is a board with a little more rocker and is tapered towards the tip and tail.
