Andy Criere won in Anglet

It is the third QS he has won in his career, the first at the 1500 level. Jonathan Gonzalez and Dominic Barona finished fifth

Spanish surfer Andy Criere has just won stage 39 of the QS ranking, the 1500-point Deeply Pro Anglet event that was contested over three days of consistent waves between one and two metres.

In the grand final Criere defeated the Portuguese Vasco Ribeiro by a score of 16,33 (9+7,33) to 8,67 (5,67+3).

This is Criere's third QS win, having won a 1.000m in England and another in Portugal. However, it is not his best QS result, as he has managed to score more than 1500 points in other events.

For his part, the legendary Canarian surfer Jonathan González had a good participation in the event, finishing fifth, losing in the quarterfinals to the Portuguese Pedro Henrique.

Meanwhile, Ecuador's Mimi Barona showed she was in good form and finished fifth. She narrowly lost in the quarterfinals to eventual runner-up Isabella Nicholls.
