Hawaii-based South African Benji Brand has just won the special barrel event, the Rip Curl Cup, which took place once again in Padang Padang by pumping perfect barrels for a full day.

Brand surfed one last wave with three minutes left, with priority 2 in the eyes of Hawaiian Clay Marzo who was in first place. He got two barrels and the judges awarded him the best score of the final, a 9,67.

The final was completed by former CT Matt WIlkinson, who started in the lead and then lost his rhythm, and local I Made Rondi, who did not get in tune with the ocean.

The final result was as follows:

2: Clay March 17,10 (9,50 + 7,60)
3: Matt Wilkinson 16,16 (8,83+7,33)
4 I Made Rondi 12,17 (7+5,17).

In rounds 1 and 2 the surfers entered the water twice and the eight who achieved the best combination were the ones who made it to the semis.

Clay Marzo was one of the big highlights, tubing backwards, layback inside solid tubes.
