The QS 1000 and Pro Junior for Ladies will be held between February 13 and 17 on the classic left of Punta Hermosa, reported the organizers in a statement, RDV Surf, which will be holding its third QS in three consecutive years.

This tournament marks the return of the WSL to Ladies since 2019, when a QS 3000 was held there, won by the Frenchman Gatien Delahaye. In addition, it will be the return to the wave of a JQS after 17 years, since in 2006 an event of the category was held, which was won by the local Matías Mulanovich.

It will be the first stage of the WSL South America of the year, part of the 2023-2024 regional QS tour and the first of the pro youth category. It will distribute $10,000 in prizes for the Open category and $7,500 for Juniors, the statement said.

“Señoritas is a wave recognized by the surfing community due to its history and for being competitive and versatile for all athletes, who can perform radical maneuvers and generate top performance. Sharing this wave with the local community and Latin surfers is a source of pride for us,” said Gabriel Villarán, sports director of RDV Surf.

“It is an excellent opportunity to enjoy the summer with family and friends, cheering on the highest-ranked champions in all of South America, a first-class show that, due to the proximity of the competition waves to the shore, will allow the public to view the tournament from the front row,” the statement added.

On the other hand, the WSL calendar shows the tentative date of the already classic QS event in the Dominican Republic to take place between February 7 and 11.
