Confirmed: There will be Pipe Masters
And the swell promises and the event can start in a few hours
The World Surf League confirmed that the Pipe Masters will take place in "the next few days with a promising wave forecast." It did so in a letter posted on its website signed by its CEO Erik Logan.
The executive refers to the WSL's efforts to work with the virus and how he was one of those infected, noting that two days after isolation he still feels some symptoms. Logan thanks the doctors of Oahu and communicates to the community the commitment they have to the place and its safety.
She also thanks the local authorities because they were key in making the Maui Pro happen in Pipe, making it the first time in history that there will be a women's CT in Pipe.
The waves at Pipe have been epic these past few days. On one of them, Miguel Tudela broke four ribs after a tube closed on him.
His replacement has not yet been announced, his name no longer appears in the elimination round series 1.
