Uruguayan Marco Giorgi, Argentine Leandro Usuna, Peruvian Cristóbal de Col and Spaniard Aritz Aranburu passed their heats today at the Volcom Pipe Pro and managed to qualify for the final day of the event, which promises to be tomorrow, Saturday.

Giorgi relied on his frontside technique and landed two good tubes for Backdoor that earned him 5,07 and 5,70 which added up to 10,77 and were enough to leave Cody Young, Alan Cleland (who finished a very good participation in the event) and Roi Kanazawa in second.

De Col and Usuna took on the South American feat in a tough series against Australians Mitch Parkinson and Jordan Lawler. Lele dominated the series with two hits to Backdoor but Cristobal took a while to get into shape, he had only a 3,1 and needed 5,7 to qualify.

With 40 seconds to go, Usuna was in the lead and he missed a wave, De Col went and got a good tube. The judges gave him 5,83, just enough to continue.

“I am very happy to have passed my heat at the last second, you should never give up until the end, that's how things happen, keep fighting. We are moving on to the fourth day of competition, with all our strength, with all our desire and we are going to leave Peru and all of Latin America in the lead,” said a very happy De Col to a DUKE representative after getting out of the water.

Finally, Aritz Aranburu went for the gems in Backdoor and although he first fell on a bomb where he did everything difficult but succumbed on the easy, life gave him revenge: He came to a bomb with priority, he dropped off at an angle and entered a cavern that was wider than it was high. He came out and the judges gave him 8,2 which was enough to leave him second behind the defending champion Jack Robinson and ahead of Kejiro Nishi and Álvaro Malpartida who rounded off another luxury Volcom Pipe Pro.

In addition to Malpartida and Cleland, Guillermo Satt, Dwight Pastrana, Miguel Tudela (who went into some incredible caverns but was unable to get out) and Joaquín del Castillo said goodbye to the championship today. With this, the four Hispanics mentioned above are the ones who remain in the event out of the 14 who started.

The day culminated with the first 10 of the event, after an impressive 10 from Conner Coffinn.

Tomorrow the Hispanic series will be formed like this:
-Marco Giorgi goes against Yago Dora, Eli Hanneman and Callum Robson in the 1
-Lele Usuna goes against Jeronimo Vargas, Wiggolly Dantas and Noa Deane in the 3
-Cristobal de Col goes against Evan Geiselman, Tanner Hendrickson and Elliot Paerata Reid
-Aritz Aranburu will face Imaikalanni Devault, Sheldon Paishon and Conner Coffin
