The second in the CT ranking, qualified for the final 5 and the Olympic games, Griffin Colapinto shared a heartfelt message about what is happening to him spiritually and emotionally after having concluded the best year of his career.

“This year I finished second in the world after a full season of 10 events, I look at the paper and expect to feel an abundance of joy but for some reason I feel nothing and I can’t understand why,” the Californian wrote on Instagram.

“I try to think harder but it seems like I only fall deeper into the trap. What is happening? Why is this happening? Do I deserve this? Why am I working so hard to feel nothing? This turns into a relentless feeling of anxiety that I can’t touch. I’m afraid to acknowledge this feeling. I distract myself with random things to escape that anxiety and when I come back the anxiety comes back. If we don’t confront these things over time, we fall deeper into the trap,” she added.

So, Griffin said, with the help of journaling, meditation and his spiritual partner Troy Eckert, expecting ecstasy in those moments of success is not “how it works.” “In the moment the event happens is when we feel the most, that’s because we’re in the moment and that’s what we’re focused on but once it’s over, it’s over. In the moment, activities feel the best. We can’t expect to continue feeling that joy days later when the event is in the past,” Colapinto said.

“So I have decided to let go of the attachment of the expected feeling. What is more important is to focus on every little detail of our day now. To practice Sadhana, a spiritual practice of life. Every moment is an opportunity to get closer to consciousness,” concludes the second in the ranking.

He ends by saying that he shares it because he understands that it can help people who feel similar and says that the finals are coming and that he is going to do everything to enjoy them.

Colapinto finished second in the rankings and will have to beat whoever comes from the clash for second place and then Filipe Toledo, in Lowers, his home, to become world champion for the first time.

The young Californian has been seen meditating on more than one occasion, a practice that has been said to have helped him on the world tour.
