The International Surfing Association has requested that there be 32 longboarders, 16 men and 16 women, in what would be the debut of the discipline at the Olympic Games that will take place in Los Angeles in 2024.

The ISA President informed member nations of this at their annual general meeting on 12 December.

The division of the longboard has yet to be approved by the Olympic authorities, but it is known that in the best case scenario there would be 16 per gender.

At that time, no distinction was made as to what the maximum number of participants per country would be to participate in the Games on longboards.

The 32 added to the recently published news that the ISA requested that there be 36 shortboarders per gender would make a total of 104 surfers in Los Angeles 2024 in the best possible scenario.

Aguerre explained at the AGM that since it is not known how many surfers there will be, the qualification path for the games cannot be determined.
