John John Florence has just returned from a month-long sailing trip

He traveled, along with his brother Nathan and friends, more than 2200 miles to go to Palmyra Atoll. Will he be ready for the Pipe Masters?

While the CT competitors are wringing their fingers over who will be the world champion, who will reclassify and who will not, the two-time world champion, John John Florence, very calm on a sailboat, announced his return after a month of isolation during which he visited the Palmyra Atoll.

Located more than 1.100 nautical miles away, Palmyra is a nearly uninhabited atoll of 3,9 square kilometers in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Wikipedia makes it clear: “It is one of the most remote places on the planet, exceeding 5000 kilometers from any continental landmass.”

As can be seen in the video, John John and his brother Nathan were also involved in the trip, as well as filmmaker Eric Knutson and Kona Johnson, the Hawaiian surfer with whom John John made the Molokai to Oahu trip; the entire team was captained by Jacques, the French-accented captain who appears in the stories of the two-time world champion.

The youngest of the Florences even says in his stories that they were able to surf some waves.

In a video shared by John John a few days ago they are seen diving in paradisiacal reefs.

Regarding the injured knee, Florence is seen wearing a knee brace at times.

John John re-injured his ligaments during the CT stage in Rio de Janeiro. He underwent surgery and from then on he chose several activities, one of them was editing videos and the other was surfing.

Before embarking on his career, he made reference in an Instagram post that he had faith in going to Tokyo 2020 and for now things are going in his favor, with his main rivals, Kelly Slater and Seth Moniz leaving him as the second best American, even though he has already missed five events.
