John John has already guaranteed himself first place in the finals
That is, if Erik Logan's invention had not existed, he would already be a three-time world champion.

Hawaiian John John Florence will compete in the WSL Finals at Lower Trestles from November 6-14 as the No. XNUMX seed according to calculations made by DUKE and confirmed by the WSL in its press releases.
Florence has a 9610-point lead over No. 2 Griffin Colapinto, but touching the water at Cloudbreak, regardless of the result, will push that lead to more than 10.000 points, making it unreachable.
This means that JJ will be the number one seed in the finals and will have to compete in a best-of-three series format for this year's world title against whoever makes it to the final series on the iconic California wave.
Had the tour not changed its format, that is, had former WSL CEO Erik Logan not invented the finals, the Hawaiian would have been crowned world champion for the third time today.
