Juan Fernandez dominated the Giant Cow 2019
A day of great and very hard surfing consecrated the Galician as the Spanish big wave champion. Indar Unanue repeated the second place. The waves, the tide and the wind were the protagonists and challenged the organizers who had to change the schedule.

The latest Spanish Cup champion, Galician Juan Fernández, has just been crowned champion of the La Vaca Gigante big wave event, which has just concluded on a day of waves and challenging weather in Cantabria.
In a final of eight (due to changes caused by the state of the tide and wind) that was contested by seven (because Adrián Fernández was injured in the semi-finals), Fernández left the Basque Indar Unanue in second place, who repeated the result, Miguel Velazco in third place, Sergio García in fourth place, Iker Muñoz in fifth place, Yeray García in sixth place and Nagai Puntiverio in seventh place.
The first three heats of the event ran normally, a little inconsistency but with bombs coming in. Indar Unanue, Sergio García and Michel Velazco dominated the first heats.
The tide then went out and made conditions very dangerous, organisers said, who stopped the event and postponed the restart until 14:00. When the event restarted the offshore wind blew too strong and made conditions very challenging.
Fernández managed to land two bombs that gave him the victory. Unanue took one at the end of the series (see video) that gave him a bit of suspense, but it was not enough although it did help him to get into second place.
The final result was as follows:
1st John Fernandez - 21,67 points
2nd Indar Unanue 18,34 points
3rd Miguel Velazco 16,84
4th Sergio Coco Garcia
5th Iker Muñoz
6th Yeray Garcia
7th Nagai Score 7,96
8th Adrián Fernández 0 (injured, unable to participate in the final).
