Camera and forecasting company Lineup announced today that it has expanded its presence to Chile, where it will have a local forecaster and plans to reach more than 30 live cameras by 2025.
Lineup already has a strong presence in Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil and now adds Chile to the list of countries where it is present with local cameras and employees.
The forecaster, who has not yet been presented, will be an expert on the Chilean coast who will be dedicated to developing specific forecasts for the coast as was done with Hernán Carro in Argentina, Luiz Guilherme Aguiar in Brazil and Fabio Cichini in Uruguay, reported the CEO of the company, Fabián Fernández.
The authority said: “We are very excited about the official arrival of Lineup in Chile. I think it is a market that we see with a lot of potential, which is why we made this decision that we had been considering for a few months. Chile undoubtedly has a surfing community that is growing, a super extensive coastline, world-class waves and surfers who have made it to the Olympic Games. This undoubtedly speaks to how important surfing is for the country.”
“It is also a country where we believe that quality and precision in the products used are highly valued, and that is exactly what we offer at Lineup. We have already mapped around 60 surf spots with detailed forecasts and we will continue to expand this coverage throughout the year. We also have our first live cameras in the country and the plan is to reach 30 before the end of the year,” he added.
“Even before this launch, we already had a base of Chilean users, including premium subscribers. This somehow confirmed to us that there is a real demand for a service like Lineup in that country. So now with this official arrival, we seek not only to offer the best forecast and live coverage of the sea but also to generate alliances with brands, surf schools, local organizations; so we are totally open to collaborating, receiving feedback from the entire community because that has always been our philosophy: to build lineup together with the surfing community,” he concluded.
Lineup already has more than 100 live cameras operating in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay and aims to exceed 150 in the region before the end of 2025.
The company was founded in 2021 but attracted the attention of the region when it announced that it had raised more than $200.000 from private investors who trusted the venture.
