After a month of isolation in quarantine, Latin American and Uruguayan champion Lucas Madrid announced on social media that he had beaten the coronavirus. He received the results of his latest test last Friday and received the good news that he had tested negative for Covid-19.

Madrid had announced on March 26 that it had tested positive for Covid, 13 days after the first cases of the virus had been reported in Uruguay.

“(I am) super happy to put an end to my fight against the coronavirus. It was a month  Today, since I have been in isolation, and from there came a great learning."

The surfer thanked the medical staff and fans who accompanied him during this time and was moved to reflect on seeing his family again, acknowledging that the hardest part of quarantine was precisely being away from them.

Regarding the treatment of the disease, he said that there was no treatment, but that he simply took paracetamol when he had a fever and in the first few days he took muscle relaxants.

Madrid has already shared videos with his family and others in which he is seen training.

The Uruguayan was chosen as part of the Uruguayan pre-selection that will compete (if it ever happens) in the mega world championship in El Salvador.
