Argentine surfer Lucía Cosoleto has just written a new chapter in the history of Argentine surfing after being crowned world champion at the ISA SUP and Paddleboard World Championships being held in Puerto Rico.
Born and raised in the city of Buenos Aires, she achieved her sixth ISA world title for Argentina (two for Santiago Muñiz, two for Lele Usuna and one for Nacho Gundensen), adding one more star to the traditional shirt that the country wears at world surfing championships.
Cosoleto is coming off of winning the Pan American Surfing Championship in Panama. She has spent the entire year traveling the world and has shown a very good level in recent months, which she confirmed today with the greatest achievement of her career as a water woman, as she calls herself (she has excelled as a short boarder and longboarder as well).
In the grand final, which she accessed through the main event and was guaranteed in Santiago 2023, there were not many waves but Cosoleto found two that were worth 10,17, which were better than the 10 added by the Japanese Kaede Inoue (silver), the 8,46 added by the Brazilian Aline Adisaka and the 4,07 added by the Colombian Isabella Gómez.
